ROCK THE BELLS 2008 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SERIES POWERED BY SANDISK CONFIRM VENUE AND ON-SALE INFORMATION
ADDITIONAL ARTISTS CONFIRMED FOR FESTIVAL SERIES INCLUDING MF DOOM, SAGE FRANCIS, BLUE SCHOLARS AND B-REAL
Venue and ticket information are now available for this year’s ROCK THE BELL 2008 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SERIES POWERED BY SANDISK, featuring the leading hip-hop line-up seen on one bill this year. The festival series kicks off July 19 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in the Chicago area and moves onto outdoor amphitheatres coast-to-coast including New York’s Nikon at Jones Beach Amphitheatre and a return to the Los Angeles area’s Glen Helen Pavilion. A full list of updated routing and venue information can be found below. Tickets for most of this year’s 10-city North American leg of the series are currently on sale via Ticketmaster. Presale tickets for the recently added September 6 show at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA will be available Wednesday, June 4 - Friday, June 6; and Saturday, June 7 to the public. Event organizer Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union is thrilled with the possibilities of this year’s festival series stating: “There has been a tremendous amount of artist support for Rock The Bells. Every day there will be a definitive moment in live hip hop history. There will be a number of surprise performances and additional acts planned for each city.” The festival series will feature performances by newly announced artists MF Doom, Sage Francis, Blue Scholars, Just Blaze, Black Violin, Afrika Bambaataa, The Dirty Heads and touring DJ Green Lantern. Previously announced artists include A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Mos Def, De La Soul, Rakim, Method Man & Redman, Raekwon & Ghostface (Cuban Linx), Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Murs, Kidz In The Hall and special guests, the reunited The Pharcyde. Fans will also see performances by the brightest names in the emerging electro-hip hop scene including Spank Rock, Santogold, Kid Sister, Wale, Jay Electronica and The Cool Kids with hosts B-Real of Cypress Hill and the world renowned Supernatural. Most of this year’s headliners will be performing with new music, such as Q-Tip’s “Renaissance" and Nas’s “Untitled”, in support of upcoming or recently released albums. Guerilla Union’s ROCK THE BELLS 2008 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL SERIES POWERED BY SANDISK has established itself as a world-class hip-hop platform by hosting legendary performances by Rage Against the Machine, NAS, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Lauryn Hill, Blackstar (Talib Kweli and Mos Def), Hieroglyphics, Living Legends, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Cypress Hill and Jurassic 5 as well as reuniting Wu-Tang for their last performance with ODB in 2004. In 2007 it was the top-grossing hip-hop event in the country.
